“Hello, Author! What are you doing?” asked the Little Book Bird, flying into the room.
“Hello, Little Book Bird! What am I doing? I’m thinking about what LittleBookBirdAndWiseOwl books are. What do they give a child beyond reading? How are they different from other books? For example, the first book, the first journey you take with the Wise Owl – The Book About Birds, Part 1. What makes it special?”
“I know what makes it special,” the Little Book Bird cried happily. “A 9-year-old boy invented me, the Wise Owl, and our journey (How We Came to Be: The Story of the Little Book Bird and the Wise Owl). He wrote all these interesting stories about birds and our adventures, gave me my name and the Wise Owl his name, and drew all the pictures. And now… we exist. And that is wonderful!”
“You are right,” the Author confirmed. “LittleBookBirdAndWiseOwl books were born from a child’s imagination.”
“And now other children can help shape future stories,” the Author continued. “The next adventure may grow from a child’s drawing. Any child can do this: they only need to imagine a journey for you and the Wise Owl, draw it on a special page in one of the books, and submit it through this website on the account page.”
“Oh, now I can’t wait to find out where we will go in the next book!” chirped the Little Book Bird.
“But that is not all. LittleBookBirdAndWiseOwl books do not simply tell the story of your adventures. They are much deeper and richer than that.”
“What do you mean, deeper and richer?” asked the Little Book Bird.
“In the books, each story has educational activities for children that grow out of the adventure itself and can be completed with a pencil right in the book. Cross something out, trace it, count it, find the odd one out, or add what is missing. In other words, nothing appears in the book by accident. Everything is connected to the adventure.”
“So I can read interesting stories and then… continue the adventure by completing an activity right in the book?” asked the Little Book Bird.
“Yes. But then it gets even more interesting. LittleBookBirdAndWiseOwl books also have coloring pages – black-and-white drawings of your adventures. Sometimes these coloring pages are not simple at all. One piece may be missing. The child needs to find it at the end of the book, cut it out, glue it into place, and only then color the picture however they like.”
“Wow!” said the Little Book Bird in surprise. “So now our books can be not only read, but also… colored, cut out, and solved like activities?”
“Yes. And even more than that. For example, the first book “The Book About Birds, Part 1” does not only tell the story of your adventures. It also has interesting science facts about the life of each bird,” the Author replied.
“Why?”
“You see, your journey was exciting, but far too short to give you time to observe each bird in different situations and at different times. The Wise Owl told you many interesting things about each bird, but not everything. For example, titmice recognize one another by voice, and mother hoopoes deliberately treat their nests with a special ‘bird perfume’ that smells so unpleasant that no one wants to even peek inside. That is how they protect their chicks. Did you know that?” the Author asked the Little Book Bird.
“No!” answered the Little Book Bird. “That is very interesting! And I like that it is now in the book. I will be able not only to read about our adventures, but also to learn even more.”
“Yes. LittleBookBirdAndWiseOwl books are books you do not simply read: inside them, you think, act, create, and live within the adventure,” the Author replied. “A child takes the book in their hands and… steps into it. The child reads, learns something new, thinks, creates, remembers, checks what they have understood, grows, and develops. All of this helps each adventure feel deeper. The story, the activities, the coloring pages, and everything else in the book are connected. Together, they become one complete journey.”
“I liiiike that so much!” the Little Book Bird rejoiced. “There is no time to get bored with a book like that! But you forgot one more exciting thing!”
“What is it?”
“Online games on the website! I have already played them. They are all about the adventures that the Wise Owl and I have together!”
“Exactly! Thank you for reminding me. Every online game on the website exists for a reason, because each one is based on the story of your adventures.”
“Oh! So the adventures continue on the website!” chirped the Little Book Bird.
“Yes. The adventures do not end in the books. They continue on the website. Reading, knowledge, creativity, and play are all connected in LittleBookBirdAndWiseOwl,” the Author confirmed. “That is what LittleBookBirdAndWiseOwl books are.”
