“The Titmouse’s Secrets” is a memory game for children inspired by “The Book About Birds, Part 1”, where the Little Book Bird and the Wise Owl travel and meet different birds. At the heart of the game is a small story about a titmouse that has hidden its favorite seeds and now needs help finding them. This turns the familiar card-matching mechanic into a continuation of the bird story and keeps the game connected to the world of the book.
The game follows the classic “find a pair” principle: the player turns over two cards, remembers the images and their positions, and gradually finds the matching pairs. The game includes:
Memory
Attention & Concentration
Observation & Visual Discrimination
Spatial Thinking & Orientation
To find a pair, the child needs to remember not only the image itself but also where it appeared, and then connect that information with cards revealed on later turns. As the game continues, the child builds an internal “map” of the positions already seen and has to keep updating and holding that map in mind. Images that are similar in shape or color require careful attention to visual differences, while repeated turns require the child to stay focused on information gathered earlier. As the number of pairs increases, so does the amount of information that has to be remembered and placed correctly in this mental map, allowing the more difficult levels to increase the challenge without changing the basic rule of the game.
“The Titmouse’s Secrets” continues one of the book’s stories in game form: a familiar bird, a small narrative, and the images on the cards become a new way to interact with the same adventure. It is part of the LittleBookBirdAndWiseOwl world, where reading can continue through play, and play can lead the child back to the stories and the world of birds.
From story to action. From action to play. From play to new adventures.
