The World of LittleBookBirdAndWiseOwl
LittleBookBirdAndWiseOwl is a Ukrainian author-led book-and-game project for children ages 6–9, where a story turns into action, action turns into a game, and the game brings the child back to the book, creativity, and their own thinking. These are not just children’s books, not a set of coloring pages, and not a website with separate online games. Here, stories, lively character dialogues, skill-building activities, coloring pages, cut-outs, creative pages, children’s drawings, and story-based online games work as parts of one book world.
Each story about the adventures of the Little Book Bird and the Wise Owl continues in action. The child reads, observes, wonders, thinks, solves tasks, works with the book through hands, color, and imagination, cuts, glues, colors, invents new adventures for the characters, and discovers story-based online games on the website inspired by what has been read.
Each printed book becomes a long, meaningful cycle – reading, play, creativity, handwork, imagination, and returning to the world of beloved characters. It does not compete with the digital world, but gives it meaning, boundaries, and a story. The website becomes not a random screen with entertainment, but a continuation of the book journey: no ads, no notifications, no digital noise.
The Main Characters of the Book World
The stories in the LittleBookBirdAndWiseOwl books are journeys and adventures of the main characters: they see something, wonder, ask questions, make mistakes, get scared, feel happy, argue, find an answer, and move on.
The Little Book Bird is curious, lively, and emotional. She wonders, gets excited, sometimes gets scared, and always has a question. The Wise Owl is calm and attentive. He explains difficult things simply and without pressure, helping her see more. Their dialogue helps children learn new facts, notice, ask, feel, think, and discover the world together with the characters.
Stories That Turn into Action
In LittleBookBirdAndWiseOwl, stories do not end with the last sentence of the book, but turn into skill-building activities, creative action, or a game. They do not turn the book into a textbook and do not make the child pass a “test”. They remain part of the adventure.
Children’s Drawings That Inspire New Adventures
In LittleBookBirdAndWiseOwl, a child can be more than a reader or a player, but can also try to take part in creating future adventures of the Little Book Bird and the Wise Owl through a drawing. Each book has a special page for a child’s own idea, where they can draw a new adventure of the main characters – one they would like to read about in one of the next books. Parents can send this drawing through their account on the website, and perhaps it will inspire a new story.
How It All Began
The LittleBookBirdAndWiseOwl project was born in Ukraine. It all began with a boy who, at the age of nine, wrote and illustrated his own book – The Book About Birds. He created the main characters – the Little Book Bird and the Wise Owl – who discover the world of birds through light, cheerful dialogues.
Fifteen birds, fifteen stories, and fifteen unique drawings.
The boy’s mother – an engineer, web developer, and designer – was so captivated by the book that she promised to publish it. But life changed many plans, and the promise could only be fulfilled nine years later.
Based on the first book, she created a new edition, turned the children’s drawings into coloring pages, created skill-building activities, the website, and story-based online games. This is how children’s stories gradually grew into an author-led book-and-game world, where the book, creativity, handwork, and a safe digital space work together.
What Comes Next?
The first book became the foundation of the whole project. From here, the world of LittleBookBirdAndWiseOwl continues to grow – with new books and adventures, skill-building activities, and online games. Here, every new book remains a living journey, every story opens a new adventure, every activity gives a clear action, and every online game continues the book world. Every child can also get a chance to inspire the next journey.
